This quick hike in the Hammond Pond Wild Forest is a family favorite and is included on the Lake Placid 9 Hiking Challenge.
The hike up Baxter Mountain is short – just 1.1 mile to the summit – and is fairly flat. On a nice day you’re sure to see kids, dogs, people taking their time, and hikers of all ages. The views are spectacular for such minimal effort and the summit is a great place to hang out for awhile. Be sure to bring a lunch and your camera or mobile phone. You’ll definitely want to take photos.
All in all, a great hike to keep in mind for those days when a longer adventure isn’t possible.
