Internationally Renowned Equestrian Events Return to Lake Placid This Summer

Lake Placid, NY will once again take center stage in the world of equestrian sport as two internationally recognized horse shows return in late June and early July 2026, bringing Olympic-level competition, world-class athletes, and thousands of spectators to the region.

The Lake Placid Horse Show, scheduled for June 23–28, 2026, will be followed by the I Love New York Horse Show, taking place June 30 through July 5, 2026. Together, these events are expected to feature nearly 1,000 horses competing across three weeks of elite competition in the Adirondacks.

Each show day begins at 8:00 a.m., with classes running simultaneously in five rings throughout the day until approximately 5:00 p.m. Spectators will have the opportunity to experience a full schedule of hunter and jumper competitions featuring riders from around the globe.

Prize money and awards total more than $550,000, drawing top-tier competitors, including Olympic veterans and rising stars in the sport. Past participants have included five-time Olympian McLain Ward, as well as notable riders such as Jessica Springsteen and Georgina Bloomberg, who has described Lake Placid as one of her favorite stops on the circuit.

Show jumping, often referred to as “stadium jumping,” challenges riders and horses to complete a course of obstacles in the fastest time possible with the fewest faults. Hunter classes, while not involving actual hunting, are judged on style, precision, and overall performance, highlighting the partnership between horse and rider.

Beyond the competition, the horse shows offer a full visitor experience. Attendees can explore the paddock areas, enjoy seating in the grandstands, and take advantage of on-site dining and shopping. Vendors feature a wide range of offerings, from equestrian apparel and fine jewelry to antiques, artwork, and specialty goods.

Ticket pricing for the events includes free admission on Tuesdays, $8 on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and $12 from Friday through Sunday, with children under 12 admitted free of charge.

The events, hosted annually in Lake Placid, are widely regarded as a highlight of the national show jumping circuit, combining elite competition with the scenic backdrop and welcoming atmosphere of the Adirondacks.
